Child, Adolescent and Family Counselling

Child Counselling

It’s hard seeing your child upset, especially when you don’t know what you can do to help.

I can work with you and your family to manage challenges. Using a creative and playful approach, your child will learn to use their resources and strengths to overcome problems, while learning how to express their feelings. As a parent, you will receive support in responding to your child’s behaviors and emotions, while gaining a further understanding of your child’s troubles including:

  • Anxiety (worry)
  • Bullying
  • Divorce
  • Fears
  • Sadness
  • School problems
  • Sleep difficulties
  • Social challenges

Adolescent Counselling

Your teen is facing many challenges as he or she tries to figure out where they fit in this big world. It’s not unusual for a teenager to feel misunderstood.

Counselling can give your teen a safe outlet so they can express their experiences, develop further awareness of themselves, and learn how to manage stress as they move forward into adulthood.

Adolescent problems that I can help with include:

  • Body image
  • Depression
  • Eating disorders
  • Family conflict
  • Grief
  • Peer pressure
  • Relationship problems
  • School stress
  • Self-harming behaviors
  • Self-esteem
  • Substance Abuse
  • Trouble fitting in

Family Counselling

Many families face challenges such as communication breakdowns, conflict, and stress.

Family counselling will enhance your understanding of family members and most importantly, it will give you the opportunity to deepen your connections with each other.

“I would describe Lesley’s counselling style as warm, empathetic, collaborative and respectful. She has an ability to put clients at ease as soon as they walk through the door, by listening to their stories in a non-judgmental way. I think clients are drawn to Lesley’s genuine positivity, curiosity and sense of humour. She draws from a plethora of clinical experience with children, adolescents, couples and families and utilizes creativity and mindfulness in her approaches to problem-solving. Lesley has a beautiful way of connecting with young children, promoting healing through joining them in playful exploration.”
